Using either OEC Trader Demo or the OEC api, when a customer attempts to place an option order at a strike that shows 0 for volume, the order is rejected with these msgs:
- System error: Risk violation: <account #> No quotes - Order was rejected: <account #> <order #> Buy <option symbol> at <date> (Order breaks limits) This is in contrast with previous behavior, where a customer using the demo could place orders for strikes with no volume. Also, I placed an option order for 6S (Swiss France) option order OCHFH3 Buy 1070 Call, which had a volume of 21. This option order failed with the same error msgs. In fact, no option order attempt succeeds for this symbol. Thanks much, CHW Edited by CWeber984 on Feb 26, 2013 at 21:36:37 |

Update: this only occurs with a newly obtained account. I use another account that was created a year ago and this behavior does not occur. I will send the acct info for this issue to Support@openecry.com

Update2: i am using limit orders exclusively from both accounts. In OEC chat we discussed that:
- If its an options MKT order, unless there is an open bid/ask to supply the opposite side, the order will fail to place. - A options LMT order should always place, whether demo or real. CHW |

We've had two other (newly-obtained) OEC demo accounts report this problem in the last month, so, its not just that one demo account is malfunctioning.
