Our platform's demo customers have had issues with orders filling out of the market range for a long time (years even).

We've had great and constructive dialogues with a contact at OEC about this for a similar length of time. he has contacted the providers of the sim order engine several times. It seems like the 3rd party provider doesn't have enough incentive to make the fix.

We realize it's not an issue for the OEC devs; it's out of their hands. However, we are opening this post to report the instances we receive. Hopefully, OEC can use these posts to provide some background to the folks that provide the order placement engine for OEC's demo accounts.

We note that many of these reports are coming from real money traders who also use demo accounts.

For all the reports we receive of this issue in the future, we will take care to note
- the ticket id
- the time of placement
- the symbol
- the user account

We realize these previous reports are less useful because of the lack of this information. Hopefully they will still be helpful in alerting the right people that there is an issue.

Thanks,

CHW

There are some serious problems with the software I have been using as a trial. It is filling me at prices that are not even the days range. For instance just the last one, I sold a Light crude contract at 108.44 with a stop at 108.64 - a $200.00 loss. It filled my stop at 109.67 which is not even in the daily range. This is good that it is only a trial, and that it is play money, because if it were real money I would be freaking out.

Concerned about another bad fill as it might relate to real trading. I said the bad fills are an artifact of the demo account servers.

Friday, September 13th 2013 @ 15:01:40
Called in about a big difference between an order price and the actual fill
$200 away from the market on crude oil. Looked like the simulated server bad
fill / slippage issue. I took a screen shot in case anyone wants to review it.

Five times in the last three days on my Live Demo account I have placed an entry stop order to enter the market and have been filled at a much different price then where my entry was set. I understand that a small amount of deviation of entry is normal market action, however when my entry is filled on a stop order, I am not filled at or near the current market price but rather a jump occurs on the screen and fills me at a price that is significantly different, where the market is not close trading, and always at a loss. This has occurred both long and short on the market. I have attached screen shots of two examples of this occurring. On four instances, the initial jump loss was from $100-$300, however one instance was an initial loss of $920. I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me because I need this problem to be fixed before I can begin trading on my Live account. Thank you.

talked with customer about the false bid/buy spikes that causing fills outside the market. Reassured that it would never happen in the real money account.

I've been told not to add more examples to this bug for the time being. According to our OEC reps, a plan is in place for the correction of this issue, though the fix will not occur until after the new year.

We look forward to it!

Thanks

The new order fill engine seems to be working very well as it relates to this post, except for GCL. We appreciate your contact with us that you are working on the issue re. GCL.

This report is due diligence, as we have an emotional customer who is seeking to become a GCL expert.

This upset customer is still regularly experiencing bad fills on GCLF4. Here's today's report:

"the point is, my stop was no where NEAR 94.85 - that is just where it filled... I had actually *just* placed it on the chart, I was assuming at about 18 cents below - and was going to move it closer - but it SUDDENLY filled - and the market was nowhere near it. And on top of that - it showed -$1180. Please look at the time stamp of when it was stopped out @ 1:17:32, and then look at the chart. Market looks to be at about 95.84. The record shows I was filled at 94.85."

This was GCLF4 12/3/2013 1:16PM ticket 122100281 Buy at 96.03 closed 12/3/2013 1:17PM Ticket 122100382 at 94.85.

The account user name is: ---

Thanks,

Same user as above:

GCLF4 Ticket#122405129 12/9/13 10:51:50 AM, Sell 2 Paid 94. Current 97.44

Was also filled for TWO contracts, when I only placed one - it is my default.

Price shows only 1 tick movement at time of snapshot, and down -$7100.

Bad fills on RLM-MZ3 are reported for this user name:

all last Friday as well as today (numerous).

I verified this in my own account today (---):

The first market order I placed on this symbol filled significantly outside the Buy/Sell spread:

Type: Buy
Time closed: 12/16/2013 10:32:33 AM
Ticket ID: 122781643

This account reports not only bad fills 300 tics outside the market on a consistent basis, but as of Friday, ignored LMT orders on GCL and RLM-M: Username: account # ----.

By ignored, I mean that the market passed through the LMT price but the LMT never filled.

Thanks,

This upset customer, --- duly reports his bad fills on GCL:

Oil was never at 99.00 this morning. -$3640 instantly.

If you need further details about opening order ticket 122675432 that filled at 99.00 when the market was 97.18, just let me know.

Thanks,

I voided out the UserNames and AccountNumbers as a security precaution. I'll update this post only once a week, giving you a count of the bad fills reported, and send more details to your email.

Only one user is currently reporting bad fills. He experiences them regularly for multiple contracts. Here's his most recent report. He trades alot, and seems to get at least 5 bad fills per per day. These are the ones I bothered to verify:

ZOH4 ID 123862188 Buy filled at 3.9925 (higher than daily high)
ZRH4 ID 123862195 Sell filled at 15.365 (lower than daily low)

As I know this issue is being looked in and fixed, I just wanted to mention that we are still noticing it and provide you with some ticket ids in case that helps.

Thanks,

Our diligent reporters of demo bad fills reported 5 bad fills through the week of 1.27-1.31.

Picking up the thread with this week's bad fill reports, which are limited to one:

Account: -----------
Ticket: 125359607
Symbol: ZRH4
Name: Rice, Rough
DateTime: 2.5.14, 7.08.59 PM (his time)
Side: Buy
Fill Price: 15.415

The fill price was above the high of not only the current day, but the previous three days:

2.6.14 session, high: 15.325 (at time of report)
2.5.14 session, high: 15.385
2.4.14 session, high: 15.370

Did you hear any issues on this week? We released on this week potential bugfix - our Simulation Engine could trigger bad fills by implied values.
