API Support » REMOTE application wont connect Oct 07, 2012 @ 03:43 PM (Total replies: 1)

My remote application worked OK last Friday 5th October but now won't connect to the API. Has anything changed? Have I missed an important announcement?

I always thought that the Golden Rule of software programming was that new versions of software should only add new features and NEVER take away old features. Whenever OEC disconnects from the server, for whatever reason (whether it is my network connection or an OEC server problem) I must restart OEC trader and re-establish the DDE link. I didn’t have to do this with Version 3.4. I hope your software programmers FIX THIS ANNOYING BUG in the next software release because I depend on a 24/5 connection.

Thank you.

In V3.4 the DDE link would work after OEC Trader has re-established connection with the server.

Now, in V3.5, if a connection is lost with the server and reconnected I have to restart OEC trader to get DDE link to work again. It would be good if it reconnected the way V3.4 did.

Feedback » Excel DDE Documentation Update for 3.5?? Nov 11, 2010 @ 04:56 AM (Total replies: 5)

DDE Link stopped working @ 01:08:45 GMT 11Nov.
Quotes in OEC were still working.

Feedback » Excel DDE Documentation Update for 3.5?? Nov 04, 2010 @ 11:09 AM (Total replies: 5)

The OEC connection to server was OK but the DDE link wasn't working. I had to shutdown OEC and restart it. Unfortunately I didn't check the quotes in OEC before restarting.

DDE link stopped working - 2nd time.

This is a problem I was experiencing with OEC a few versions back. It happened @ 00:48 UK GMT on 4th November and around 5am UK GMT on 3rd November.

1) Are there any updates as far as the DDE documentation is concerned? When did the programmers decide to use tik! instead of quote!..???

2) Why do I now need to have the quote window opened in OEC trader for the DDE link to work???

API Support » EXCEL DDE problem with OEC v3.5 Aug 09, 2010 @ 12:33 PM (Total replies: 0)

I posted in the feedback section but didn't get any feedback.

I have been using Excel DDE for a few years without any problems. Now I am getting 'Unknown Identifier' errors with OEC v3.5 which means I can't use it. The problem is with DDE links to 'Last price' 'Updated' and 'Last Volume'.

Also, with OEC v3.4 I do not have to have the quotes screen open and subscribed to get any of the DDE links to work. Now I do.

Feedback » Unknown Identifier - Excel DDE Aug 02, 2010 @ 04:24 AM (Total replies: 0)

I am using exactly the same Worksheet that I was using with OEC v3.4 but now when I load the quotes using OEC v3.5 I get an 'Unknown Identifier' with some of the parameters.

Hi Victor,

Don't worry about this issue for now, thanks for your help. I am redeveloping my application and so far everything works with ADVANCED Example OECAPI 3.5.

From now on I will use ADVANCED example.

Quote: You can download OECAPI 3.5 and OEC Trader 3.5 at any time for any environment. It was realeased several months ago.

For issue with OECAPI 3.4: could you check the same issue with OEC API Advanced Example for 3.4 on your end?

My Application seems to work fine with BASIC example OECAPI 3.5 but does not work properly with ADVANCED example OECAPI 3.5.

Whenever there is a new version of OEC trader I get a dialog box alert and the option to install it. I will try the advanced example.

Does this mean my application will not work properly until OEC trader is using OECAPI 3.5? When will it be upgraded?

API Support » OEC trader remote works different to Examples Jul 23, 2010 @ 03:24 AM (Total replies: 0)

The problem appears to be with OEC trader. I remote connect to the Basic example and my application works fine on both PC's but it does not work the same way when I remote to OEC trader.

Is there any chance of getting a development version of OEC trader to test applications? ie a version of 3.4.0.8 that logs onto "api.openecry.com".

It doesn't seem right that I must develop an application using a system that will work differently to the system I am trading real money with.

Any clues a to how I can move forward with this? How can I test an application without putting real money at risk?

Hello Victor,

The versions:

OEC Trader V3.4.0.8
API: 02/02/2010 10:12

I tested the application using the Basic example you provide with remoting enabled. I tested it on a PC running Windows XP. I copied the API from OEC trader so that the version I use in my application is the same as OEC trader.

I then copied my application onto my trading PC which is running Windows Vista. OEC trader is exactly the same version but the API time stamp is different by 1 hour, it is 11:12. The 'OnPriceChanged' event works fine, The Order Entry works fine, but for some reason the fill didn't work the way it did on test.

--- Original message by VictorV on Jul 21, 2010 12:08 PM
Hi Victor,

"api.openecry.com" - Production

"prod.openecry.com" - Live

Sorry, I may have confused you. I should have said test api and production api.

My application works fine when I am remoted onto "api.openecry.com"

Today, I made a LIVE trade using the SAME application I tested but this time with OEC Trader connected to my account ( so I imagine it is on "prod.openecry.com") and it seems as if the 'OnOrderFilled" event didn't trigger.

I checked the API version on the LIVE account and it is the same version.
